Keyboard Shortcuts
Every default shortcut in the Studio: the editor and workspace keys you can rebind, plus the canvas keys shared by the Model Builder, PrepFlow and Pipelines.
Reading this page
Shortcuts are written for Windows and Linux. On a Mac, use ⌘ in place of Ctrl and ⌥ in place of Alt. The Studio shows the right key for your system next to each command.
Workspace shortcuts
These are the defaults you can rebind under Settings → Keyboard shortcuts:
- Ctrl+S: save the current file
- Ctrl+W: close the current tab
- Ctrl+Shift+R: run the current file (⌘R on a Mac)
- Ctrl+Backtick: show or hide the terminal
- Ctrl+Shift+P: open the command palette
- Ctrl+Shift+E: open the Explorer
- Ctrl+Shift+F: search across files
- Ctrl+Shift+G: open Source Control
- Ctrl+Shift+A: open or close the AI Copilot
- Ctrl+,: open Settings
Editor shortcuts
- Ctrl+Backslash: split the editor
- Ctrl+F: find in the file
- Ctrl+G: go to a line
- Ctrl+/: comment or uncomment
- Shift+Alt+F: format the document
- Alt+Z: toggle word wrap
- Ctrl+Shift+M: toggle the minimap
- Ctrl+Shift+L: toggle line numbers
Rebinding
Open Settings → Keyboard shortcuts, choose a command and press the keys you want. Use the reset control to put the defaults back.
Canvas shortcuts
The Model Builder, PrepFlow, Pipelines and the Data Hub's data model share the same pointer tools and clipboard keys:
- V: Select tool. Dragging on empty canvas draws a box around what it touches.
- H: Hand tool. Dragging moves the canvas, and Shift-drag still draws a selection box.
- Space (held) or the middle mouse button: move the canvas with the Select tool active.
- Shift-click: add a layer, step or node to the selection or remove it.
- Ctrl+A: select everything.
- Ctrl+C, Ctrl+X, Ctrl+V: copy, cut and paste the selection. A copy is plain text, so it can be pasted into another project or kept in a file.
- Ctrl+D: duplicate in place (Model Builder).
- Ctrl+K: open the layer search in the Model Builder; add a layer by typing its name.
- Ctrl+Z and Ctrl+Shift+Z: undo and redo in the pipeline editor.
The tool you pick is remembered.
Data Hub
- Ctrl+K opens the Data Hub's own search to find a dataset by name, tag or column name.
